I’m Paulá, co-founder of Queer Lisbon Tour with my wife, Leo. I’m a Brazilian immigrant from São Paulo with Northeastern roots, while Leo is a Lisbon-born alfacinha. Understanding the colonial history that connects us has been about naming power dynamics, speaking about the legacy of colonization, and recognizing how it shapes our daily lives. If we didn’t, we would end up repeating a dynamic using the vocabulary we were given — the colonizer’s vocabulary.
So we ask: how can we build a language to tell our story? As an immigrant in a country still shaped by an imperialist mindset, is belonging a form of reparation? Can a moment of gathering, listening, and sharing help diminish the fear of prejudice and rejection? How can we bring more dignity to our community, humbly knowing that we are also capable of great failures? We don’t have the answers, we’re looking for them.
Oppressive structures still shape our lives, perpetuating violence and limiting opportunities due to the lack of education around sexuality, gender, and history, condemning us to repeat stereotypes. We imagine a world where no rights are out of reach, not just the basics, but also leisure and pleasure.
Our mission is to build educational bridges through storytelling, fostering new perspectives and pathways for understanding. We aim to challenge deeply rooted prejudices and social stigmas that contribute to social exclusion.
Connection is the key of our business and one of the most used word in our reviews.
Multi-Lingual Storyteller & Tour Guide
I’ve always been interested in people, cultures, intersectionality and the different realities that exist in our world. More recently I’ve realized that understanding our history gives us such important insight into why we are where we are now and I’ve also learned how much I enjoy sharing (part of) that history!
I’ve been very lucky to have had the opportunity to travel around the world and hope to never stop. I spent several years in Latin America before moving to Portugal in 2020, where I live with my wife and two cats. I have learned to love the freezing ocean water and be part of such a beautiful queer community.
My passions: I am passionate about LGBTQIA+ initiatives, movements, and rights, women’s rights, reading queer centered stories/novels and hunting mushrooms in the forest.
My favorite food: Being half Italian I have to say that pasta is my favorite kind of food – short pasta is preferred and with a red sauce, please.
My favorite drink: Although it doesn’t go very well with pasta, I would drink a bloody Mary any time of the day, as long as it’s spicy and is accompanied by yummy snacks.
My favorite place in Lisbon: At the moment, my favorite place in Lisbon is the miradouro senhora do monte. The view is spectacular, the neighborhood is the queerest and the vibes are chill.
My local tip for anyone visiting Lisbon: Use the Queer Map and walk everywhere, if you can! Lisbon is a great city to enjoy out on the streets, there is so much to see and explore if you just look around you.
Museologist, history curator for Queer Lisbon Tour, and tour guide.
I like to say that I was born in the city that my grandfather built for me, Brasilia, in Brazil. There, I studied Museology and discovered that I love to tell stories. For eight years, I have made Lisbon my home. I am quite Taurus, but the Aries in my chart does not let me stand still. I am also part of a sapphic DJ duo called SAPATRUX.
My Passions:
I am passionate about storytelling and climbing
My favorite food:
I wouldn’t mind eating strogonoff every day
My favorite drink:
Moscow Mule is my drink of choice
My favorite place in Lisbon:
My favorite place in LX is definitely VALSA
My local tip for anyone visiting Lisbon:
Make sure to visit the Aljube Museum. It’s a unique gem!
Co-Founder, Finance & Operations Lead
Heeey! I’m born and raised in Lisbon – always loved exchanging with people from other places since I love learning from other perspectives and connecting with people, sharing ideas and warmth. I’m neurodivergent, I was involved in social movements and alternative media for a while, used to play bass and was part of a few bands. I recently understood that unlearning what was taught by society is a long life lasting journey.
My passions: Music, cinema, exhibitions, books, adventures, concerts, food, animals, plants, camping, trips, philosophy, psychology, history, nature, practicing sports, social movements, understanding and reframing trauma, dreaming and building a better society.
My favorite food: This one is very hard, but basically dishes made with love will warm my heart and belly – some examples can be Pica-pau, carne moída com batata e cenoura, strogonoff, teriyaki chicken.
My favorite drink: Fresh fruit juices like mango, pineapple with mint, or orange. With alcohol I like moscatel, amarguinha & moscow mule.
My favorite place in Lisbon: I love green spaces like Tapada das Necessidades, Jardim da Estrela, Estufa fria and Monsanto.
My local tip for anyone visiting Lisbon: immerse yourself! Take time to understand the people, culture, and the space you’re occupying. Basically, don’t be a gringo.
Co-Founder & Chief Entertainment Officer
I’m from São Paulo but grew up in a city of 240,000 inhabitants—which, for Brazilians, feels like the countryside. For as long as I can remember, I dreamed of living abroad to study and work. Lisbon captured my heart as a calm capital where you can walk everywhere, eat fresh fish, and enjoy stunning sunsets.
I appreciate the simple things in life, the sound of birds from our apartment, relaxing in the hammock, and dancing. I also love cooking and sharing meals with the people I care about.
My passions: Fashion, traveling, understanding human behavior and trauma.
My favorite food: Feijoada is my favorite Brazilian dish. My favorite Portuguese dish is carne de porco à alentejana.
My favorite drink: I’m a tea lover, but white wine is a close second.
My favorite place in Lisbon: I’ve developed a connection with Lisbon’s gardens. I have been enjoying Gulbenkian garden, where I can sit and read or relax.
My local tip for anyone visiting Lisbon: Enjoy the best aspects of Lisbon’s multiculturality! Experience what it’s like to enjoy Cape Verdean food, great Brazilian music, and amazing Angolan cuisine.
